Slowly ive been seeing many bloggers start talking about Sponsored Tweets, and how you can really make some good dosh with them if your a leader in your niche on twitter (That was a mouthful). Ive checked it out before when i saw it featured on both Shoemoney.com and JohnChow.com, but it never really seemed that appealing. The whole thing seemed a bit, far off. I dont know what it is about it, but everything seems so bare bones. Only recently did i take another look at the network.
The thing that interested me the most, was that Shoemoney was supposedly getting $250 dollars per tweet, and from K-Mart at that. To be honest i dont doubt this part, Whether you think Shoemoney is a smart as mofo or whether he spends his days photoshopping adsense cheques, he is pretty big in the IM world. What i do doubt is whether K-Mart will ever see a return on that $250. $250 is alot to spend on just ONE tweet. If we look at it from a different angle, say coming from revtwt.
Revtwt prices vary but it is generally about 15 cents per click. So doing some simple math ($250/$0.15), we see that you could actually get 1666 clicks on your ad. And going backwards towards 10 cents per click (Which is possible), will only increase the amount of clicks you can get. Now what im trying to point out here, is do you think that shoemoney can get 1.6k clicks on an ad that he tweets? I would be VERY suprised. And it can only end in a catch 22. If the advertiser can get more clicks from a pay per click twitter network, then they should go with them. But if shoemoney is getting over 1.6k clicks per link he tweets, then he (The publisher), would be better off with a pay per click network.
Well, if shoemoney can get $250 per tweet with 70k followers (I actually think it was much less then this at the time), then surely with my amazing 2k followers, i can get something right? I signed up, I waited, I failed. No offers for me
. Which is actually a bit weird. If anything i think i was a bit late in on the buzz. When i read about other people getting offers. They got offers even though they sit at around 500 followers (Yeah they get paid peanuts though). But i think this was right when sponsored tweets was pumping and advertisers thought they were going to get the most amazing traffic they have ever seen….
Maybe im wrong. If anyone has any experience with Sponsored Tweets leave a comment and let me know. Also im interested in what you guys find is the follower/earnings ratio. So for example, if you had 2k followers, how many clicks do you think an ad would get? Let me know!
