Of all the people who give me Blog Post idea’s, My girlfriend is never one of them. But today she found something that made her laugh, And thought I would enjoy it aswell.
With all the buzz in marketing (Mostly blackhat) being around Facebook nowadays. People are having to get craftier and sneakier to fool people into filling out whatever CPA offer is on the table. The most common Facebook money making scheme is using CPALead, and making a gateway to cover up some image/fact/outrageous comment, and making the user fill in a survey before they can view it. They then go ahead and make a Facebook fan page, saying “Can you believe George Bush said this”, Then make them go through the steps of first liking the page, then filling out the offer etc
Unfortunately for most people, It is getting harder and harder to go about doing this. I don’t like to say there isn’t enough idiots to go around, filling in CPA offers all day. But certainly, people are waking up to the fact that most of these Facebook fan pages are usually circled around a very lame picture/fact. Definitely not something worth filling in an offer for.
With that being said, This has done nothing but thrown up a challenge to the most seasoned marketers out there. And they have come up with this http://www.free-tings.com/illusion.php. Which is basically a CPALead gateway with this as the background image :
Obviously they are using that image to try and fool people into thinking it is a Facebook popup. Not sure on the legality of it, But it is pretty darn smart. And while it won’t fool everyone, it will most definitely give you a better conversion rate than a standard CPALead gateway.
O and yes, I know I’m probably raining on someone’s parade here. Ruining their best kept secret to how they make millions with CPALead. But since the image is uploaded to tinypic, I can only assume it’s free to use wherever.
If you’re not gaming facebook by now. I wouldn’t recommend getting into it. It’s getting far to played out at the moment, And I was even reading an article in a local computer magazine about “Facebook cracking down on applications that are just part of money making schemes”. No joke, If New Zealand is up to the play with the going ons of web marketing, then you know it is more than saturated.
I wish I had thought of this, although it was only a matter of time, I bet I’m going to see a load of groups using that widget background now.
