5 Ways To Get More Backlinks To Your Website

This blog post started off as a quick guide to getting backlinks. And yet, it has turned into a pretty good beginners guide in getting started with your whole SEO plan. While no means is this a comprehensive list of ALL the ways you can get backlinks to your site, it is a good starting point.

So without further ado, 5 Ways To Get More Backlinks To Your Website :

5. Blog Commenting
What :
This method is something that has been around since the dawn of blogs really. It basically works like this; Blogger writes blog post, you read said blog post, you comment on said post with something that is relevant to the topic at hand. And in the process you can leave your website with the comment. Notice how i said “with the comment”, Not “in the comment”. Leaving your links in the actual comment body is likely going to prevent your comments ever getting approved.

Where :
Well generally speaking i have a handful of blogs that i read each and every day. And atleast 50% of them are updated on a daily basis. I enjoy joining in on the conversation, and leaving a comment to throw my two cents in. Whether i could leave my website as a link or not doesn’t matter to me, i would still comment. So its more so a bonus.

If your looking to go out of your way and find blogs to comment on. Then use this in google :

“powered by wordpress” +”your keyword here”

That will find all wordpress blogs that are in your niche. If anything, try and stay relevant. And always try and read the content before making your comment. It makes it that much more likely to be accepted.

4. Profile Links
What :
This method of getting backlinks has really come to the forefront of the SEO world lately. People left right and center have been selling “link packs” which contain forums/CMS systems, where you can signup and leave your link in your profile. Some think that it is a little blackhat, since you aren’t signing up to the forum to really give anything to the community, just to get your link. But, it does work and i myself have seen amazing results from using these sorts of links on my own websites. Just think how many forums you are currently a member of, Do you currently have your website link in your forum signature?

Where :
You can buy linkpacks from WarriorForum from both members Angela and Paul. Do note however these packs to have their pros and cons. While it has great that they have sifted through the garbage on the web that exists today, and given it to their buyers in a nice and easily readable package. You have to remember that these guys have literally thousands of customers. If you use these packs even a week after they have been released, alot of the forums would have closed registration to stop the influx of spam.

Ofcourse you can find them on your own using google keywords such as…

“powered by smf” +”your keyword here”
“powered by vbulletin” +”your keyword here”

And the list goes on. Its actually really easy to find these sorts of things.

Automation :
I cant really say there is too many automated software out there for these types of links. SENuke does have a module for them, but it has been notorious for bugs (Or was when i last used it). And much like the link packs from Warrior Forum. The sites are over used to hell. Your best bet is to use something such as Lynxlinks, and just pay for the service of someone doing the links for you. Saves alot of time and hassle, and if you know how to pick keywords. It becomes almost automated income.

3. Forum Plugs
What
:
One of the best modes of traffic for this blog has been the software i give away. And you know what, it doesn’t just advertise itself. Word of mouth is actually pretty hard to come by nowadays, especially with everyone being so secretive about their methods. So you really have to get out there and push your products. Instead of being an asshole about things and just plain plugging your software everywhere you can (I did this at the start but quickly learned), you need to write guides/articles on forums that use your software/blogpost as a reference.

So for example, with my Yahoo Answers software, i wrote a quick guide about making money through peddaling CPA offers through Yahoo Answers. I then copy and pasted this guide onto almost every “Internet Marketing” forum i was a member (And even some i found on the day!) and got a good thread running with it. Obviously in this guide it advised them they should probably download me “100% free yahoo answers software”. And so the people came, downloaded, and then checked out my blog. Aswell as getting a good backlink from the forum.

Your probably thinking “Well shit, i dont have any software to give away”. Doesnt need to be. It just needs to be something that you can reference in your post. Say you write up an article about getting forum backlinks, and you then link to your blog which is giving away free forum lists. I mean its all about plugging your posts in a way that is not just plain advertising.

Where :
If your looking to write plugs. Your best bet is the forums you frequent daily, or atleast have a good post count with. It makes it that much easier to not get flamed. If you want to look for forums and signup for them on the day you decide to start plugging, then you can use google with the same as our profile links :

“powered by smf” +”your keyword here”
“powered by vbulletin” +”your keyword here”

Automation :
There isn’t really any automation for writing plugs. You can google “xrumer” for a sort of automatic plugging system. But its more spam then writing interesting articles to engage the reader.

2. Web 2.0 Properties/Article Directories
What :
Heh. Just realised this, Number 2 in the list is web 2.0 properties (The 2′s). Yeah im immature. But it was funny to see.

Well anyway, onto the topic of Web 2.0 Properties. What are they? Well you have probably seen them before but maybe never heard them called by that name. They are things like Squidoo, Hubpages, Webs.com, Weebly etc. Essentially free webpage designers that give you free hosting, a free domain, and you can basically write about any content you feel like. Hopefully this has set off that little light switch in your head!

Article Directories are similar to Web 2.0 Properties. But are more “text” based. With our properties, they are more like real webpages. Meaning we can add in images, videos, polls etc. Article Directories, text only. Remember that!

So given that we can use these pages to write about anything we feel like. How about writing about our content that is on our blog/website. And then linking back to it? Sounds like a pretty good idea huh?

Where :
There is soooo many out there that you really could not list them all. For article directories just google “Article Directories” and you will probably find, amazingly enough, article directories. Web 2.0 properties dont go under that name, so ill give you a quick list off the top of my head.

http://www.squidoo.com

http://www.hubpages.com

http://www.webs.com

http://www.weebly.com

http://sites.google.com

http://www.blogger.com

http://www.wordpress.com

And the list goes on. There is a better way to find them, and maybe ill write a post on that later. But for now this is a good start.

Automation :
SENuke is probably the number 1 Web 2.0 automation software at the moment. Cant say its the best software you will ever touch, but it does its job quite nicely and saves alot of time.

1. Social Bookmarks
What :
Social Bookmarks are things like Digg, Mixx, Stumbleupon etc. Where you share your new content to a community and they can either choose to view it or not. At this point, forget about link baiting, and submitting amazing content that will get to page 1. Chances are it will never happen. Submit everything. Seriously. Well, if its good that is. Dont submit spam. But if its good informative content, then your good to go.

Where :
Once again, there is no real way to find these outright on google. So here’s a quick list.

http://www.digg.com

http://www.mixx.com

http://www.jumptags.com

http://www.stumbleupon.com

http://www.reddit.com

http://www.a1webmarks.com

And once again, the list goes on :P

Automation :
Your best bet is to check out onlywire. Its free, and it shows. But it saves a tonne of time. Otherwise once again go for SENuke, OR you can google “BookMarking Demon”.

0. Good Content/User Experience
What :
Yeah, some of you will be going “What? Good Content?”. But its something that google has always harped on about (Especially Matt Cutts). But its something that still holds true today. If you write good content, and give the user a good experience on your website. He/She is likely to keep coming back and linking to you from their own websites.

Good Content is probably obvious. Just write about cool stuff (Much like myself). But User Experience goes so much further then that. Its about your site speed, ease of navigation, the colors you use, your overall layout, even your font size can affect a visitors perspective on your site. I don’t want to write too much about the do’s and dont’s of design, hell even this blog still has a tonne of work to do. But its always something to keep in mind.

Conclusion
So there we have it. 5 ways to build backlinks to your site, and 1 not so helpful tip, but something i wanted to thrown in. By all means this isnt a definitive list, but when i was starting out i know i struggled to grasp the concept of backlinking.

Nice article m8, i want to tryit thanks

  2. Holy crap these are actually good tips. I was expecting you to start talking about directory submissions and posting links to twitter or something. I believe you might be someone who occasionally visits Wickedfire.com, if not you should check it out. Also see Ping.fm which is slightly better than OnlyWire. I think SENuke is OK but slightly expensive.

On the odd occasion i do visit there. Tbh, the forum isnt spread out enough for my liking. Everyone just gets piled into one forum. But otherwise its pretty good.
